Disney Lorcana: Winterspell Illumineer's Trove

True to its name, a Winterspell Collection Starter – Stitch is a great gift for Locana collectors. You’ll get a Rockstar Stitch portfolio to store your cards safely and in style. You’ll also get four boosters giving you some cards to slot into that portfolio, and a Carefree Snowboarder Stitch that shreds the slopes, just like Rockstar Stitch shreds his guitar.
Disney Lorcana: Winterspell Gift Set - Scrooge McDuck
This one is for all of the superspies out there. A Winterspell Scrooge McDuck Gift box is headlined by a shiny Scrooge McDuck S.H.U.S.H Agent card, but you’ll also get five boosters and a container that can store up to 250 sleeved Lorcana cards, complete with dividers.
Lorcana: Winterspell also offers a choice between two very different playmats. If you’re feeling a bit villainous, the Dragon Fire playmat melts through the winter snows and shows Maleficent reigning supreme over a sea of green flames. On the more heroic side, the Ariel Sonic Warrior playmat depicts the singing princess of the seas parting the currents with the power of her voice. There’s a contrast here between fire and water, and between good and evil. Whichever side you prefer, there’s a playmat for you.
What We Know So Far about Winterspell
Winterspell promises to provide “flurries of fun”. In line with its winter theme, the set introduces the characters from Mickey's Christmas Carol. You’ll get to see Scrooge McDuck both as a miserable miser chucking out “bah, humbugs” and as a reformed philanthropist. The ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future are set to appear.
Scrooge isn’t the only duck around, as Darkwing Duck is scheduled to make his Lorcana debut in Winterspell, supported by Launchpad McQuack from Duck Tales.
There are even some aliens out in the snow, with Stitch hitting the slopes, and Angel singing some festive tunes.
Mechanically, there’s still a lot that’s unknown about Winterspell. From what we’ve seen so far, there seems to be a focus on interacting with facedown cards, whether that’s through the best mechanic or other effects like Scrooge McDuck, Reformed Ebeneezer “spreading joy” by putting the top cards of the deck facedown under other characters you control.
Thematically, this focus on the facedown could represent the mystery of tearing open a wrapped present, or even the wonder of looking out over a landscape where everything is concealed by a thick layer of snow.
If you’re drawn to the promise of a Lorcana set with a festive theme, or if you want to see all of your favourite Disney characters frolicking in the snow, or if you’re just excited to see Darkwing Duck make his Lorcana debut, then this is definitely a set to watch.
