Fan of the Month – July: Jem’s Pokémon Collection Is a Work of Art
Posted by Magic Madhouse on 14th Jul 2025
Hey I'm Jem! I'm nearly 30, which I feel is a fantastic age to be into Pokemon considering I grew up with it! What's the saying once a nerd always a nerd! With my collection of full arts I love theming different pages such as: pink, sleepy, trainer and pokemon, food and flowers/grass! This is still a work in progress, I tend to make more pages and move them around. But so far they're stunning!

Q: When did you start collecting and do you remember your very first big hit card or pack? What was it?
A: I started collecting when I was young, thankfully pokemon was my era. I grew up with it surrounding me with tcg and the show. This is why I've heavily got into it now and have a Squirtle tattoo! So my very first hit was a shiny Gengar from the 1st edition and I was absolutely gutted to have lost my collection when I was younger. If only we knew eh?
Q: What’s your absolute favourite card in your collection and why does it mean so much to you?
A: Such a hard question! As I love the cards I have, my favourite has to be my full art Mewtwo from destined rivals. I was very lucky getting it from half of a booster box and I was that happy I got it graded! So it means a lot to me due it being my own first graded card.
Q: What’s the crown jewel of your collection, the rarest or most valuable card you own?
A: The crown jewel of my collection has to be Cynthia from Hidden Fates. She's got queen behaviour and I love it, the card is also stunning!
Q: How do you store or display your collection, are you more binder-organised or shoebox chaos?
A: So I've got a weird organization technique, I have separate coloured binders for the different energy. But then have a white vault x large binder for all of my precious cards. Commons I put in the collection tins, you can fit loads in!
Q: Do you play the Pokémon TCG, collect only, or dabble in both?
A: I play anything Pokemon! I collect often with cards as I try to keep up with the sets. I play the game on my phone but not as much as I'd like. I can be forgetful sometimes!
Q: Do you have a favourite Pokémon artist or card artwork that really stands out to you?
A: That's a hard question, but I love the full art Tatsugiri card. The art is stunning and this is one of my chase cards I still need to get hold of. He's such a simple Pokémon but he's so cute and a fan favourite I think.
Q: Are there any cards you're currently chasing or a dream grail card on your wish list?
A: So I have a few, I don't ever collect full sets! Apart from the Radiant Collection, I need all the big chase cards. I left these till last and obtained the smaller ones which I have now done.
Q: What's your favourite modern Pokémon set and why?
A: So I've got to say I love Paldea Evolved. There's some really cute carts and amazing artwork. I feel it caters to a lot of people!
Q: Do you have any card storage hacks, tips, or advice for fellow collectors?
A: If you've got bulk, buy the collectors tins! You get packs inside and they fit more cards in the normal sizes tins. You can put them in a long strip then face the other cards against it. It works miracles!
Q: Do you share your collection online? If so, where can people follow you and what’s your handle?
A: So I do unboxing videos on my main account on tiktok which is jibbyjabz, but I created a collection tiktok and ig pokejemm
