Magic: The Gathering Spider-Man Crossover Officially Revealed

Magic: The Gathering Spider-Man Crossover Officially Revealed

Posted by Magic Madhouse on 25th Sep 2025

After a record-breaking summer with Final Fantasy and Edge of Eternities, Magic: The Gathering is gearing up to swing into its next of three Universes Beyond crossovers this year, and it’s rather spectacular. This week, we’re thwipping in to New York City with our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, and he’s bringing a few of the Spiderverse’s biggest names with him in this unique set.

When Is the Spider-Man MTG Set Releasing?

Hot on the heels of Edge of Eternities, the wait for Spider-Man is a short one. In fact, it’s releasing tomorrow, on September 26.

This makes Spidey the sixth of seven booster releases for MTG this year, following Innistrad Remastered, Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, Final Fantasy, and Edge of Eternities. We’ve only got one more release coming, with Avatar: The Last Airbender dropping later this year.

The summer rush of Final Fantasy and Edge of Eternities may be over, but Spidey is here to carry us into the slightly quieter autumn months. Of course, if you want to get your hands on Spider-Man early, this week is seeing the set’s prerelease events take place. Head to your local game store this weekend to play with the set and build your own sealed deck of Spidey cards before it drops in big box stores next week.

What We Know About the Spider-Man Set So Far

Compared to most major MTG releases, Spider-Man is a little bit different, and it isn’t just because of Spidey. See, this set started out as a mini release like March of the Machine: The Aftermath or Assassin’s Creed, before it was expanded into the full set we have today.

With that in mind, the product lineup is a bit different:

  • Play Boosters, which still include plenty of alt-art styles, but can also be used to try out the set’s new pick-two draft environment.

  • Collector Boosters, which have a chance of including exclusive alt-art styles, like classic comic art from your favourite Marvel artists.

  • Bundles, which include lands, a promo card, a spindown counter, and nine Play boosters

  • Gift Bundles, which include the above and also an additional Collector booster and a very snazzy comic art box

  • A scene box, Spidey’s Sensational Showdown. This includes six scene cards, the textless art card versions of them, an easel to display them all on, and three Play boosters.

Note that one thing this set doesn’t have is Commander decks. This is largely because of how the set was designed, but fear not; future Marvel sets will be including them!

All of these are already available to order through Magic Madhouse now, so make sure to get the drop on them before they sell out.

Universes Beyond: What Makes This Crossover Special

Universes Beyond is Magic: The Gathering’s way of reaching beyond its own multiverse and introducing characters and moments from other properties.

As already mentioned, we’ve had some major hits in Lord of the Rings, Warhammer 40,000, and Final Fantasy. But we’ve also seen a few weirder crossovers, like Doctor Who, Fortnite, Sonic the Hedgehog, and, my personal favourite, Assassin’s Creed.

But Spider-Man is different, as this set marks the first in a series of collaborations with Marvel Comics. First announced way back in 2023, Spidey is our first look at what a Marvel set can be, throwing open the doors for the likes of the X-Men and Avengers as this multi-year partnership continues.

As this is a collaboration with Marvel Comics specifically, rather than the MCU movies or the games or anything else, there is a huge chance of almost any character you love to make it to Magic eventually. I’m hoping for the chance to build a Commander deck of all the Exiles, including my boy Barnell “Beak” Bohusk, but the X-Men sound just as cool, too.

Which Characters and Themes Might Appear?

Fortunately, the whole of the Spider-Man set has been revealed, and there’s a great balance between big names and lesser-known deep cuts. You’ve got your Peter Parkers and Miles Moraleses, sure, and with cards like Spectacular Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man, they’re definitely done justice.

But I’m equally excited about how much this set explores the Spider-Verse. If you loved Miguel O’Hara or Spider-Punk from the Across the Spider-Verse movie, they’re here and are among the best cards in the set. Or you could go really niche and pick up Sun-Spider or Spinner and Spiderling.

It isn’t just the core Spider-Man canon that gets love, though. This set also has a heck of a lot of our favourite Lethal Protector, Venom. Venom is all over it with multiple cards, but there’s also Gwenom, Anti-Venom, and even symbiotes like Grendel and Agent Venom to give the set a bit of edge.

And, of course, there are plenty of villains. The Sinister Six is in force, and Electro, Assaulting Battery in particular is shaping up to be one of the most busted of the set. But oh, look at the time! I almost missed it; it’s half-past Morbin’ time, with Morbius, Living Vampire giving the blood-sucking cinematic car crash his own gloriously memey card.

Maybe you’re not big on building thematic decks? That’s absolutely fine, as the set has plenty of interesting mechanics. Web-Slinging is the most pertinent for Standard players, as it gives you another payoff for tapping your creatures. Station a Spacecraft from Edge of Eternities, and you can then bounce that creature back to your hand to Web-sling in a Spider-Man, Ninjutsu-style!

Where to Buy MTG Spider-Man Cards in the UK

Like most sets these days, getting your hands on Spider-Man is going to be tricky thanks to the high levels of hype just about any Universes Beyond set gets. Fortunately, Magic Madhouse has you covered there.

You can preorder every product before the set launches next week, and Madhouse will ensure you get your packs. Alternatively, if you want to wait a bit, you can set up a stock reminder to be emailed when your chosen product becomes available again.

Regardless of if you buy it now or later, Madhouse gives you fast shipping. Maybe not quite Spider-Man-chasing-a-bad-guy fast, but definitely quick enough for you to put together your Gwen Stacey Commander deck when the set drops on September 26.
