The Pokémon Company have just officially revealed the name of the next Japanese Pokémon TCG set: Ninja Spinner.

With a title like that it could only be themed around one Pokémon. No not Ninjask, Ninja Spinner is all about Greninja.

So grab your shurikens and kunai, and prepare for a sneaky preview of the first cards from this upcoming espionage based expansion.

Mega Greninja ex takes center stage

The Greninja ex card from the upcoming Ninja Spinner set.

So let's begin with the stealthy star of the show Greninja themself, or more specifically Mega Greninja ex.

As the focus of the expansion, Mega Greninja gets to show off a bit. Not only are they using their signature water shuriken attack, but they're also riding on it upside down into battle. That's got to be worth some major style points.

Fennekin and Family

The new Fennekin cards from the new Pokémon TCG Ninja Spinner set.

Greninja isn't the only first partner Pokémon from Kalos to show up in Ninja Spinner. The fire type Fennekin and all of its evolved forms are also here.

This fiery fox starts out happy and harmless, smiling gently from a windowsill, before gradually ratcheting up the flames as it evolves into Braixen, and then setting the whole horizon on fire as it hits its final stage, and becomes Delphox.

Chespin steps in

Chespin and its two evolutions from the upcoming Japanese Ninja Spinner Pokémon TCG set.

Finally, we come to Chespin, the last of Kalos's three starters.

Chespin themself seems to be just frolicking around, having a good time, while Quilladin is catapulting itself into combat, and Chesnaught is hunkering down and getting ready to tank some powerful attacks.

If the three partner Pokémon from Kalos were an adventuring party, Chesnaught would definitely be the tank to Greninja's rogue and Delphox's fire mage.

AZ lends his support

Of course, no new Pokémon set is complete without trainer cards. Ninja Spinner has AZ, the ancient king of Kalos, show up in his new costume from Pokémon Legends: Z-A cane and all.

Whether he'll be lucky enough to get the illustration rare treatment isn't currently known. Full art or not, AZ will be appearing in Ninja Spinner boosters.

So that's a first look at the most recently announced Pokémon TCG expansion. Ninja Spinner is scheduled to release in Japan on the 13th March. Cards from this set will then be released overseas several months later, following on from the set Perfect Order.

But before any of that comes to pass, it'll be Pokémon Day, and the 30th anniversary of the series, on the 27th February. Here are 10 things that the Magic Madhouse Discord Community are hoping to see for Pokémon's 30th birthday.
