Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions: Release Date, Top Cards & Sets Explained

Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions: Release Date, Top Cards & Sets Explained

Posted by Magic Madhouse on 12th Mar 2025

The latest and most awaited Pokémon set of 2025, Prismatic Evolutions, has officially launched less than a month ago and it literally flew off the shelves. The set was so much on demand that all pre-orders went sold out online in seconds and people had to hunt local shops on the release day hoping to at least get some products. There are a lot of reasons for this set to be so exciting and, luckily, there will be more opportunities to get into it if you missed out on the very first release as you will find out below.

Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Overview

The most recent set of the Scarlet and Violet era was announced in October 2024 and released for the TCG on January the 17th . SV Prismatic evolution features over 175 cards including: 6 ACE SPEC Trainer cards, 10 Pokémon ex cards, 15 Tera Pokémon ex cards, 12 Ultra Rare Supporter cards, 32 Illustration Rares and 5 Hyper Rare Gold Etched Pokémon ex cards.

The set also features the usual Reverse Holographic pattern for Common, Uncommon, and Rare cards plus two new patterns featuring a Poké Ball and a Master Ball. These two patterns are quite typical for the Japanese sets but they were hardly used in English sets. As you can imagine, among the two, the Master Ball pattern is the rarest and more collectible of them.

In terms of theme, the main feature of this set are obviously the Pokémon ex, including Eevee and of all its Eeveelutions. The set features the cute Pokemon on the booster packs and on all its product and it is the best way to kick-off 2025 as the “Year of Eevee” as declared by the Pokémon Centre.

Prismatic Evolution – Product range and release timeline

As a special set, Prismatic Evolutions will have a staggered release. The initial wave just released in January including the Elite Trainer Box (and a Pokémon Centre Exclusive version), the Binder Collection, the Poster Collection and the Tech Sticker Collection. If you are in love for Eevee, you may have noticed that the promos included in the poster collection are not the same available in the Tech Sticker Collection thus you may need to purchase more copies of them if they want to complete the set. This should still be possible as more reprints of these products are expected through the year and I recommend using the “notify me when in stock” function on Magic Madhouse website to avoid missing out.

The next wave of releases is just around the corner in February and it will be closely followed by one in March and one in April. Among the products just released in February the Mini Tins and the Surprise Boxes were definitely the most appealing ones. In March, we will then be finally able to boost our collection with the 6-pack booster bundles. Personally, I am super interested in the Pouch Special Collection that will come in April as it will include 5 Prismatic Evolutions booster packs and a soft accessory pouch in the shape of our beloved Eevee. The pouch looks incredibly nice and a perfect accessory to have for bringing around your damage tokens etc...

There will be also more accessories and products releasing later in the year including a Super Premium Collection due in May and a Premium Figure Collection due in September.

One key aspect to keep in mind for Prismatic Evolutions is that while the set is a “special set”, the price of its product range are pretty standard. For example, the booster bundle is priced just below £25 while the ETB was around £60 that are almost the same prices as you would expect for a core set. On top of that, Magic Madhouse always offers a discounted price on all these products (and free shipping on every order worth £30 or more), making them even more appealing. I would then strongly recommend to make sure to pre-order any upcoming product as the stock will be limited and in high demand as previously seen for the other products of the set.

Notable Cards in the Prismatic Evolutions Set

Our list of chase cards in SV Prismatic Evolution can only start from the stars of the set: Eevee ex and all 8 Eeveelutions in their Terrastallized state. The set obviously includes some standard version of these 9 cards with a chance to get them as Master Ball reverse Holo, but the cards collectors are obviously after are the Special Illustration Rare versions of all of them. Considering how sought-after the Vmax versions of all Eeveelutions were a few years ago, it is highly expected that the Eevee cards from Prismatic Evolutions will retain a very high value. Not surprisingly basing on past sets, the most expensive of them all at the moment is Umbreon ex with a price on the secondary market just below £1000 while all the other Eeveelutions are stable around the impressive £200 mark.

As mentioned, the Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon in Master ball special foil pattern are also quite expensive although not as expensive as the Special illustration rare.

In terms of Gameplay, some of the most interesting cards of the set are Pikachu ex, Roaring Moon ex and Dragapult ex. The first one, Pikachu ex, is almost a reprint of the Hyper Rare card released just a few months ago in the Surging Sparks set, and it is quite an interesting card due to its tanky ability that prevent him to be knocked out by one single blow. And let's not forget a terrifying attack that deals 300 damage...

Roaring Moon ex and Dragapult ex have also been used very successfully in the metagame as part of their own deck or in combination with other main Pokémon. In both cases, the new artwork of this set combined with the good stats and ability of these cards make them both quite appealing to all players.

Prismatic evolution – Final thoughts

Prismatic Evolutions pretty much has everything you wish from a Pokémon set and more. It is special set with plenty of Illustration Rare cards and new Reverse Holofoil patterns, it features Eevee and all its various evolved forms and it has a great range of products lined up all through 2025. Considering all these aspects, it does not surprise that Prismatic Evolutions is a super hot Pokémon Trading Card Game set, likely even more in demand that last year Pokémon 151 at least considering how quickly all shops sold all their available stock. And we are just at the very beginning so most of the different products planned be released later in the year are not even available for pre-order.

Unfortunately, with such great cards and products come a great demand and therefore sourcing Prismatic Evolutions is not been an easy feat so far. This obviously makes quite difficult also collecting the set and all the cards you may need for your decks. On this aspect, I think both players and collectors should strongly consider buying single cards directly as an easier way to get all the cards you need. Magic Madhouse currently has a great selection of both Rare and more Common cards at very good prices and it can be a good alternative for anyone looking for the cards they need or the ones the love the most. On the other hand, we should consider a number of products have not released yet and therefore they will soon be available for pre-order. This includes also the re-stock of any product previously released and setting-up some notifications on the website will likely go a long way to avoid you miss out on them. For example, I am longingly looking forward to the Premium Figure Collection and I cannot wait to see what beautiful masterpieces will be available. Good hunt to everyone!
