The new year has just started and so is the count down to the release of the 2025 special English Pokémon collector set “Scarlet & Violet 8.5 - Prismatic Evolutions”. The new set is expected to be a blast for all the fans of this Trading Card Game thus we would like to kick-off the new year by reviewing the set and what we know so far.
Prismatic Evolutions set at a glance
Announced initially in October 2024, Pokémon TCG Prismatic Evolutions release date is set for 17th January 2025, at least for some of products featured in this set. In fact, as we have previously seen for Pokémon 151 set, there will be multiple waves of products releasing progressively all through the year providing the players and collectors many opportunities to pull the stunning cards featured in this set.
The first wave in January, will include: Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box, Prismatic Evolutions Elite Trainer Box (Pokémon Centre Exclusive), Prismatic Evolutions Binder Collection, Prismatic Evolutions Poster Collection and Prismatic Evolutions Tech Sticker Collection. The Elite Trainer Box will include the usual amount of booster packs and accessories together with an illustration rare-style promo card featuring Eevee and there will be a Pokémon Centre Exclusive version of the Elite Trainer Box. Hopefully this last one will be available on time to be purchased during the Pokémon International Championships in London.
Considering how popular these product were in the 151 set, it does not surprise to see that Prismatic Evolutions will include a Binder and a Poster Collection. The first one will comes with five booster packs and a 21-pages nine-pocket album themed around Terastalised Eevee that is the main artwork of the set. The Poster Collection will in turn include three booster packs, three promo cards (Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon) and one two-sided poster featuring Eevee and its Evolutions.
Last but not least, the new Pokémon Prismatic Evolution Tech Sticker Collection will include three booster packs, one sticker sheet and one foil promo card (Leafeon, Glaceon or Sylveon). As you may have noticed, getting a foil promo cards of all Eeveelutions may require buying all three Poster and Tech Sticker Collection sets that can be quite expensive.
Right after the first wave, the Prismatic Evolutions Surprise Box and the Mini Tins will become available on the 7th of February followed by a Booster Bundle on the 7th of March and by a Accessory Pouch Special Collection on 25th of April. The surprise Box is a new type of product featuring 4 Prismatic Evolutions booster packs and a random Foil Promo card out of a list of nine that includes Eevee ex, Vaporeon ex, Jolteon ex, Flareon ex, Espeon ex, Umbreon ex, Leafeon ex, Glaceon ex, or Sylveon ex. The Surprise Box also comes with 4 card dividers and can be used as great storage solution for all your cards.
The Pouch Special Collection is also unmissable. Not only it includes 5 Prismatic Evolutions booster packs but it comes with a soft accessory pouch in the shape of our beloved Eevee with super-long fluffy ears. Too cute to not collect one (or more) of them....
On the 16h of May we will then be able to purchase the Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection while the Prismatic Evolutions Premium Figure Collection will be the last product to arrive on the shelves at the end of September, on time for the release of the last core set of 2025.
We do not have many details yet on these last two products but we will expect them to complete in style a magnificent Eevee-centric year.
Prismatic Evolutions: A High Collectible Value Set
In total the English set will feature over 175 cards including: 6 ACE SPEC Trainer cards, 10 Pokémon ex cards, 15 Tera Pokémon ex cards, 12 Ultra Rare Supporter cards, 32 Illustration Rares and 5 Hyper Rare Gold Etched Pokémon ex cards. Most of the cards of this set are taken from the last Japanese set, Terastal Festival ex, which released in December 2024 although there will be some featured in the most recent “Generations Start Deck” set.
Basing on the set composition above, we can expect completing a Master set to be quite a challenging feat. Together with the quite impressive card list, the set also includes 32 Illustration Rares AND 5 Hyper Rare Gold Etched Pokémon ex cards that is quite a large amount for a collector set. Moreover, Prismatic Evolutions will also feature not one but three (!!) Reverse Holo patterns of each card. Together with the typical Reverse one we all know very well, the cards of this set may also be pulled with a Poké Ball and Master Ball Holographic pattern. These two patterns are typically used for Japanese cards only but they were never used in an English set. Although a lot of collectors will be pleased to finally see these patterns outside Japan, this new feature means that the master set will need to include four copies of all the Common, Uncommon, and Rare cards to be completed. Considering all the peculiarities of this set, Prismatic Evolutions is very well expected to be one of the most interesting set to collect.
Bearing in mind how much attention the new Prismatic Evolutions set has already drawn among both players and collectors, we think it would be very wise to keep an eye on the pre-order page at Magic Madhouse. As usual, all the products are priced very competitively and benefit from the free shipment policy for all order above £30 making Magic Madhouse a very good option for all your Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions purchases. Although the stock have been in very high demand since the announcement of the new set, more products will be added as we progress through the year and pre-order them on time will likely be the only way to ensure you can collect this set. We can also expect some re-stock from previously released items to become available with every new wave thus we strongly recommend to exploit the “Notify me when available” option to be able to get them as they become available. Good luck catching-them-all!
