Scarlet & Violet 4.5 Rumoured Release

It seems like only yesterday that we were diving into Scarlet and Violet Paradox Rift, yet here we are with another set release unveiled by the Pokemon Company. That’s right, hot on the heels of Paradox Rift. We are looking at our special holiday set for January 2024, rumoured to be called Scarlet and Violet 4.5 Paldean Fates.

I know what you’re thinking: is that like Hidden Fates and Shining Fates? Well, yes, from what we know so far, it’s going to feature tons of shiny Pokemon from the Paldea region, and despite the terrible set name, this looks like an absolute banger of a set! It will be modelled on the Japanese set, Shiny Treasures ex, which is a high-class set due for release in December 2023.

As we know from before, shiny Pokemon are hyped! And for good reason, some of the previews from this set are amazing, and it looks like some of our most collectable and most playable cards are going to get some awesome new cards featuring brand-new artwork. This really is going to be a set that you’ll want to get your hands on. I say it every time, ‘Surely they can’t recycle the ‘Fates’ name again?’

And while I may still think that, they always knock it out of the park with the cards inside.

Overview and Release Date

First things first, when is this set going to be released? Like lots of the special sets of recent years, you can expect a slightly staggered release on this one. The first wave of products will be released on 26th January 2024, with the second batch coming two weeks later. This looks to be a massive set featuring over 240 cards, with the majority of those being the shiny cards, which all feature as secret rares in this set.

The official Pokémon website gives us a sneak preview of some of the cards we can expect to see, including Pikachu, Ceruledge, Dondozo and Tinkaton as ‘baby’ shinies.

We also see Great Tusk ex and Iron Treads ex making their debuts as Ancient and Future Pokémon, and Espathra, Charizard and Forretress will be in the set as shiny Tera ex Pokémon. There are over 100 different shiny Pokémon, including some brand new Pokémon ex, lots of new full art Supporters and 6 Hyper Rare Gold cards. This is looking like the hottest set in a while, maybe even as hyped as Pokémon 151 was back in the Summer of 2023.

Anticipated Release Date and Product Details

We don’t have too long to wait for this one, as the rumoured release date is January 26th, 2024, and this whopping set will feature over 240 cards, including more than 100 Shiny Pokemon. We are also going to be getting 6 new Hyper Rare cards and even some brand new Pokemon ex. There is a massive lineup of products to get your hands on as well, but remember, this is a special set, so you won’t find any booster boxes in the product lineup. However, loads of products have been revealed for this set, which has got us pretty excited.

Of course, we are talking about the usual Elite Trainer Box and a huge selection of tins, but we are also getting Premium Collection Boxes featuring Meowscarada, Quaquaval and Skeledirge. These massive collection boxes feature 8 booster packs, a whole heap of promo cards, including a jumbo-sized one, an onli

ne code card and something new that we haven’t seen before: a 3 magnetic card case, which is likely to be a Pokemon-branded version of the product which we all know.

Alongside all the boxes and tins we know and love, there is also a brand new product coming and this is called the Paldean Fates Tech Sticker Collection. In each one, you get 3 packs, a sticker sheet and a promo card. It’s something a little different, and those stickers will come in handy for decorating something!

There are rumoured to be 3 different ones available, with the feature Pokemon being Fidough, Greavard and Maschiff. I’m excited to get my hands on these new products, and I like the fact that Pokemon is giving us some new stuff! We will also be getting the Booster Bundle, which has proved very popular in recent sets. This little box has 6 Booster Packs in it and is great value for money if you only want packs to open.

Speculations and Previews on Some Shiny Pokémon Inclusions and their Impact on the TCG Community

We have seen some rumours from this set, and it’s almost certain that it is going to be stuffed full of Shiny Pokémon. However, which ones will make the final cut is still up for debate. One thing is for certain: it looks as though Paldean Fates is going to be a huge set.

We have had some confirmed Shiny Pokemon, including the promo cards that we have revealed as part of the product listings. If Hidden Fates and Shining Fates are anything to go by, we can also expect loads of reprinted cards from the Scarlet and Violet series so far featuring all our favourite Shiny Pokémon.

It does look as though we will also be getting some new artworks and illustration rares. There have been rumours of a stunning, new Mew ex card, a beautiful Gardevoir ex card and a fiery Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare Card. I really hope these make it to the final cut, as they are just drop dead gorgeous! Pokemon have already told us that there will be over 100 different Shiny Pokemon in the set, including Charizard ex (which is getting its own tin and promo),

Forretress ex as Shiny Tera type Pokemon, Great Tusk ex and Iron Treads ex as Shiny Ancient and Future Pokemon and loads more as both regular cards and ex cards. We’ve also been lucky enough to see some of the cards that are going to be featured in the collection boxes and tins, and we know that we are getting the full evolution line of all 3 Paldean starters, including their final evolution ex cards.

This set will have a big impact on the Pokemon TCG community as it is going to be a really hot commodity for collectors. With so many beautiful cards rumoured, it’s looking like there are going to be some superstars among them. As far as the impact on the actual Trading Card Game goes, it may be less than that of the collecting side.

Many of the cards that have been revealed are reprints of cards we already have, and there will not be too many new cards in the set. That being said, there will be 11 new Pokemon ex and some new trainers, too, so we will have to wait and see the full setlist reveal before we judge too much.

The anticipation and expectation are always high when it comes to a shiny set, and the Scarlet and Violet 4.5 rumoured release has stirred a lot of Pokemon fans into a bit of a frenzy! We all love Shiny Pokemon, and these sets always hit the right notes with collectors and players who like to bling up their decks! Pokemon has been giving us some real top-class sets recently with Paradox Rift and Pokemon 151, so let’s hope they keep it up with Paldean Fates.
