The Most Sought-After Rarities in Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover Breakers

The 25th year anniversary of Yu-Gi-Oh! the Trading Card Game officially closed in style with the release of the very special set, Crossover Breakers. As you may remember from our previous feature, Konami introduced three new interesting Archetypes as part of the last set of 2024. All these archetypes features very interesting cards with a really good value in the metagame as you may have experienced directly.

As you may remember from our previous feature, Konami introduced three new interesting Archetypes as part of the last set of 2024. All these archetypes features very interesting cards with a really good value in the metagame as you may have experienced directly.
Most important, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Crossover Breakers is a 60-card booster set with no common cards! To be precise, the card list of this set includes 10 Ultra Rares, 10 Super Rares, and 40 standard Rares that is already a pretty nice card distribution. However, Konami decided to spice-up this set with a lot of in-set foil upgrades, so that Duellists would be able to get different foil versions for the majority of this set's new cards. The result of this choice is a higher than usual possibility for players and collectors to get high-rarity cards. At the same time, keeping track of all different foil version of each card in the set can be tricky as we have seen recently in a few other collectors sets released in 2024. With this in mind, we thought a clear breakdown of all rarities and their pull rates may come in handy to everyone looking to complete their master set, so here we go.
Crossover Breakers Rarity Tiers and Cards to look for
As anticipated, Crossover Breakers feature a total of 60 cards including 10 Ultra Rares, 10 Super Rares and 40 Rares. However, half of the Rare cards can also be pulled as Super Rare while all the Ultra Rares can be also pulled as Quarter Century Secret Rares. Finally, 6 Super Rares, 8 Ultra Rares, and 1 Rare are also available as Collector's Rare. The final result is that only 24 cards are present in this set as a single foil version (20 as Rares and 4 as Super Rares). 28 of the remaining cards can be then obtained in two different foil versions while 8 are featured in three different rarity. Pretty complex, right?
In terms of pull rates, Konami official page states that each Booster pack contains one foil cards and six Rare cards for a total of 7 cards per pack. This means that the foil slot can be taken by a Super or Ultra rare card as well as one of the many foil variants of the set with the Ultra Rare version of a Rare card being the most likely, just basing on statistics. Overall, an average Booster box should come with 4 Ultra Rares cards while a case (4 boxes) should feature 1 or 2 Collector's Rare. The chance of pulling a Quarter Century Rare cards is still around 1 card every 3 cases (or 12 boxes) that is quite aligned on what we saw previous.
As usual, the very rare Quarter Century Secret Rare cards are the ones in the set that retain the highest value. However, the possibility to have these cards also in a less-rare version within the same set seems to be a clear attempt from Konami to please both the players and the collectors. In fact, while these last ones love to have high-end Rarity cards, all Duellists prefer cards that can be easily obtained and added to their decks. Interestingly, some of the most expensive single cards from the set are also among the most playable cards of the new archetype with “Maliss P White Rabbit”, “Maliss in Underground”, and “Ext Ryzeal” leading the charts in both areas.
Maliss P White Rabbit is definitely the chase card of the set. For starters, it can only be pulled as Ultra Rare, Collector's Rare or Quarter Century Secret Rare, that are the three highest rarities of the set. Of course the, QCSR is the most valuable version of this card although the other two rarities hold their ground due to the value of this Pawn in the Maliss Archetype. In fact, when P White Rabbit is Normal or Special Summoned, the player can set a Maliss trap card from the deck that can be then activated by banishing White Rabbit itself. As all Pawns have the same ability, Rabbit can then get back to the field by spending 300 life points and it can be placed around one of the player Maliss Link monsters to give it battle damage immunity.
Not surprisingly, the second most expensive card in the set is another card from the same Archetype, although in this case is a Field Spell, “Maliss in Underground”. Together with being quite rare as White Rabbit, this card also shares a centre role in a Maliss deck engine. In particular, the Field Spell card can be used to banish any Maliss card from the player hand, deck, or graveyard to trigger their effects. The first result is the ability to expand the deck combos by acting as a flood-gate. However, if the player succeed in getting three Maliss traps with different names banished, Underground second effect will trigger granting all the player's Maliss Link Monsters a 3000 ATK boost. Sweet!
How to best collect Crossover Breakers cards?
While the latest Yu-Gi-Oh! set of 2024 has been around for more than a month now, the value of this collection for both gameplay and collection is still quite high and so are the prices of the cards on the secondary market. This is largely a result of the new and interesting Archetypes featured in the set and of the complex mixture of in-set foil variations.
