The 30th year of Pokémon, the Trading Card Game started in awe with tons of great products including the largest English set ever released: Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Ascended Heroes.
Designed as a massive celebratory set, Ascended Heroes does not only include a huge list of great cards but it also features a large variety of products that will be released in waves through 2026. Not surprisingly, this set has been in high demand since its release at the end of January and Magic Madhouse thought that now it would be a good time to put together a smart guide to walk you through every product in the Ascended Heroes line. Our effort will be to provide clear guidance to both players and collectors to determine which Ascended Heroes products may fit you better starting from why you should collect this amazing set.
What is Ascended Heroes – Set anatomy
As mentioned, Ascended Heroes is a special holiday and, as such, its product line-up is very different from a core set one. For example, there are no booster boxes for Pokémon holiday sets and there are a number of different collector-focused products that release in waves. These sets are therefore considered more rare and more valuable over time than the regular sets as there are usually less products available and more special items.
In addition, Ascended Heroes is also THE largest English set ever released featuring 217 cards in its main set and 78 secret rare cards for a total of 295 cards (11 more than Fusion Strike set that holds the record since 2021). Considering the size of this set, each Pokémon Ascended Heroes booster packs is likely to be filled with amazing cards and there is a chance you can also open a God pack that will come with an Illustration Rare, five Mega Attack Rares, and four Special Illustration Rares.
To add to the challenge of completing a master set, each non-ex Pokemon in Ascended Heroes has two different reverse holos: one showing an Energy symbol and one showing a specific Poke Ball (or an “R” if it is a Team Rocket's Pokemon). Fun fact: the Poke Balls are specifically assigned to each Pokemon (for example all Snorunt are printed with Love Balls) and the same Poke Ball continues through each stage of that Pokémon Evolution). It is also worth noting that all the Pokémon Ascended Heroes Trainer cards do not have reverse holo version.
In terms of products, the standard range of this set includes: Booster Packs, Booster Bundles, Elite Trainer Boxes (ETBs), and 5 different Mini Tins. In addition, collectors can get their hands also on two different Mega Ascended Heroes Collections, two Tech Sticker Collections, a First Partners Deluxe Pin Collection, two Premium Poster Collections, and three different Mega ex Boxes. Curious to what each product includes?
Pokémon Ascended Heroes Mini Tins and Elite trainer Boxes
Mini Tins are usually one of the most favourite products in every set. The five Ascended heroes mini tins will feature a delightful Pokémon artwork on the lid, two Ascended Heroes Booster Packs, a small sticker sheet, and an art card matching the artwork on the lid. As seen previously, all the five art cards can be combined into one larger scene making quite nice to have the full set of these tins or to gift them to any Pokémon enthusiast. Casual players or collectors will also love the possibility to have a taste of this set (and perhaps pull some super rare cards!) without spending too much on larger products.
Elite Trainer Box (ETB) are also a very classic choice, in particular among casual players and anyone new to the game. However, considering that there is no Booster Box for Ascended Heroes, the ETB can be a great source of Booster packs also for seasoned collectors and players. Ascended Heroes Elite trainer Boxes comes in fact with 9 Booster Packs, together with themed Card Sleeves, damage-counter dice, a plastic coin (and a competition-legal coin-flip dice), a player's guide to the set, and a set of energy cards. The ETB also features a full-art foil promo card of N's Zekrom.
Ascended Heroes Booster Bundles, Special and Collector Packs
Considering Ascended Heroes does not feature a box, Booster bundles offer a good option to purchase six Ascended Heroes booster packs at a good price. If you still manage to find any, the Ascended Heroes 3-pack blisters, and the Trainer collection were also good options to get three or two packs together with promo cards and stickers. The Premium Poster Collections releasing in March will also be a great way to get tons of cards as they come with 10 Booster packs. Ascended heroes poster collections will also contain the special Mega Attack Promo card and you can choose between a Lucario and a Gardevoir poster.
From March onward you will also have a chance to get some more exclusive products for this set including the First Partners Deluxe Pin Collection that comes with three holo promo cards of Legends ZA starters (Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile), a pin showcasing all of them, and five Ascended Heroes packs. Finally, the Ascended Heroes Mega ex Boxes will offer an opportunity to secure a foil promo of Mega Meganium ex, Mega Emboar ex, or Mega Feraligatr ex, together with a jumbo lenticular version of the same card, and four Ascended Heroes booster packs.
Pre-order Tips & Buying Strategy
As mentioned, Ascended Heroes products release in staggered waves with the Erika/Larry Collections, the tech sticker collections, the ETBs, and all Mini Tins already delivered to the shops. Ascended Heroes First Partners Deluxe Pin Collection, and the Premium Poster Collections will be released in March, while the Booster Bundle will come in April together with the three Mega ex Boxes.
As the next wave of releases approaches, consider pre-ordering high-demand items and try to mix different products to get some good cards to play and boost your collection. The Booster Bundle will definitely be of great value for both Players and Collectors alike while the Pin and Premium Poster Collection will likely be a great investment for all Collectors. In fairness, any products from this set offers an amazing journey into the Mega Evolution era of Pokémon and it will be very difficult to not get'em all. And if you don't find the cards you were looking for, do not worry and always remember that magic Madhouse offer a large selection of single cards to complete your collections and decks!
