The FV601 Saladin armoured car was part of the same development as the Saracen armoured personnel carrier, being based on the same 6-wheeled chassis. Several variants were developed, but it was the Saladin armed with a 76mm gun that was adopted by the British Army to replace its Daimler and AEC armoured cars.
