Blockbuster Yu-Gi-Oh! Releases

This month is an exciting one for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, with not one, but two new sets launching just days apart! Whether you want to explore the Inzektors and the P.U.N.K.S. in The Grand Creators, or play with some old favourites like the Blue-Eyes, Dogmatika, and Ghostrick in Battle of Chaos, there is a lot going on!  

First up, The Grand Creators. This is a 60-card booster set that introduces two new archetypes and gives support to three fan favourites. While that's super exciting, what's more interesting is that this set was designed through a number of polls answered by the Yu-Gi-Oh! community. Through them, not only was the main archetype of the set decided on (the insect-slinging Inzektors), an entire card was created and included as an exclusive!

Making their debut in The Grand Creators are the P.U.N.K.S., an incredibly stylish archetype focused on using Psychic Tuners for big payoffs. Leading the way with this new archetype is the Ultra Rare Ukiyoe-P.U.N.K. Amazing Dragon, which looks absolutely stunning. There's also the Exorsisters, which hate graveyards and will do everything they can to punish an opponent for bringing their creatures back from it! The third new addition is only the building blocks of a new archetype, but lots of cards play around with a new "Adventurer Token", letting you amass your RPG party and win with cards like Magicore Warrior of the Relics or the chase pull Water Enchantress of the Temple!

Returning to the game are the Noble Arms cards, with the new Dunnell, the Noble Arms of Light to go nicely in your Noble Knights deck. There's also a reprint of Virtual World Hime – Nyannyan, one of the best Virtual World cards out there. But leading the entire set are the Inzektors, the archetype fans voted to have major support in The Grand Creators. Whether you're looking for the brand-new, collaboratively designed spell Zektrike Kou-Ou or staples like Inzektor Picofalena and Inzektor Exa-Beetle, one of Yu-Gi-Oh!'s best-loved archetypes gets a lot of love here.

All in all, out of the 60 cards you can find in The Grand Creators, more than half of them are brand new debuts to the game. There are a total of 10 Ultra Rares, 15 Super Rares, and 35 Rares. To make things even better, every Ultra Rare and a handful of rares in The Grand Creators also comes with an alternate Collector's Rare version, which has a unique rainbow foiling in numerous spots on the card to make it look extra special.

These Collector's Rares are much, much rarer than a normal Ultra Rare, and make up the biggest pulls in the entire set. All of The Grand Creators' biggest money cards are Collector's Rares, like Water Enchantress of the Temple, and Rites of Aramesir. So if you were hoping to bling out your Inzektor or Noble Arms deck, or maybe want to hit the table with a new, glamorous P.U.N.K. deck, finding those Collector's Rares would be the way to go.

Next up is the bigger release of the month, the latest booster set! Battle of Chaos' 80 cards are chock full of support for your favourite archetypes, like the famous Blue-Eyes and Kuriboh, as well as fan-favourites like Dogmatika, Ghosttrick, S-Force, and D/D. All in all, the set is offering support for a whopping 32 existing archetypes!

This set is a loveletter to Yu-Gi-Oh!'s history, by featuring a lot of characters and cards you may recognise from the anime as being played by the likes of Yugi and Seto Kaiba. Some of them are new prints of classic cards, like a brand new alternate art for the Dark Magician, while others are more remixed affairs, like the Dark Magician-cosplaying Magikurihboh, or the Blue-Eyes Tyrant Dragon. A particularly scary one is the Super Rare Dictator of D., who fits great into your Blue-Eyes deck and lets you decide how your opponent attacks on their turn for as long as you control any Blue-Eyes monster.

Battle of Chaos isn't just looking back, though! There are three archetypes new to the TCG ready for you to build your deck around. The first is Dinomorphia, which showcases human-robo-dino-cyborgs fighting alongside their awesome-looking dinosaur robots, and is a heavily trap card-focused archetype. Keep an eye out for the ultra rare fusion monster Dinomorphia Kentregina, whose attack gets bigger the fewer Life Points you have left.

Next, we've got Doll Monsters, who are making their debut in the English-language game in Battle of Chaos. This is an adorable archetype, but don't let those adorably colourful looks catch you off guard. These toys are all about Xyz Summoning powerful monsters – find a Doll Happiness to flood your board with Xyz material fodder, before dropping something big and scary! If You've got a few Xyz monsters you've been trying to find a home for, Doll Monsters is a great way to go.

Finally, we've got the Libromancers, which are unique to the TCG and not found in the original Japanese game! Libromancer is a ritual summoning-focused deck, and most allow you to quickly get monsters out by revealing Ritual Monsters in your hand. For this archetype, you'll be wanting the Ultra Rare Libromancer Doombroker, who can attack your opponent directly, even if something would normally be in the way! As an aside, the Doombroker reminds me a lot of Muzan Kibutsuji from Demon Slayer with that hat!

With 10 Secret Rares, 14 Ultra Rares, and 26 Super Rares to find in Battle of Chaos, it's a great way to either buff up one of your old favourite decks, or maybe even get to work brewing a brand new one. You can buy booster packs, booster boxes, and individual cards through Magic Madhouse right now!
