With the recent announcement of the Delta Reign expansion, we now know about every single Pokémon TCG set that will come out in 2026. With a release every two months, 2026 will give us six new expansions packed full of Mega Pokémon, evolving threats, and trainers drawn straight from the games. Let's take a tour of what 2026 is bringing to the Pokémon TCG.

Ascended Heroes got the year off to a high flying start. Released in January of 2026, Ascended Heroes is a special expansion containing a mixture of reprints from past sets, as well as a selection of brand new Mega Pokémon.
Centered on Mega Dragonite, Ascended Heroes is a highlight reel of card types and features from the past few years. There are Tera Pokémon, Trainer's Pokémon, and of course a massive selection of megas.
Ascended Heroes is the biggest set of the year, with almost 300 cards. If you're looking to soar through some of the best cards from the recent history of the Pokémon TCG, Ascended Heroes is worth a look.
Perfect Order, which was released in March, is all about Zygarde, a legendary dragon with a massive laser cannon mounted atop its head, that rises to defend the world during times of crisis.
This is the first of several sets that attempt to adapt the plot of the Switch game Pokémon Legends Z-A. We see a selection of cards depicting Pokémon and trainers in Lumiose City, the setting of the game, as well as several characters from Z-A making an appearance.
Perfect Order is a tour through one of the Pokémon world's most beloved cities, including a powerful dragon to complete the experience.
Mega Greninja is the star of Chaos Rising, which came out this May. This amphibious acrobat rides through the streets of Lumiose city upside-down, tossing out aquatic shurikens and causing chaos.
Aside from ninjutsu wielding frogs, Chaos Rising has plenty to offer. Including an incredibly cozy Cinccino, Pokémon's biggest rock star, and the game's most diabolically powerful flower.
Pitch Black is currently the most recent Pokémon TCG expansion, as it was released in July of 2026. The final set based on Legends Z-A, Pitch Black adapts the game's 'Mega Dimension' DLC storyline, which is all about dealing with the shadowy mythical Pokémon Mega Darkrai.
If you're looking for a Pokémon TCG expansion that's a little bit darker and grittier than usual, Pitch Black can scratch that itch.
In September of 1996 , Pokémon Red and Green were released in Japan, the first entries in the world's biggest monster catching franchise. This anniversary is due to be commemorated by the release of the 30th Celebration expansion.
This celebratory set is intended to serve as a love letter to both the Pokémon TCG's past and its future. It introduces the brand new Futuristic Rare art treatment, which brings the iconic imagery of energy cards into the background of the illustrations of several Pokémon. It also contains a wide selection of reprints from the Pokémon TCG's history, up to and including Base Set Charizard.
Delta Reign is the final set of the year. It climbs even higher into the atmosphere than Ascended Heroes attempted to, taking us through the stratosphere on the back of Mega Rayquaza, the legendary ruler of the skies from the generation 3 Pokémon games.
Not much is known about Delta Reign currently, since it's not due out until November, although it's known that it will contain epic stadium cards that need to be assembled from two separate halves. We'll just have to wait and see what Rayquaza has in store for us when November comes.
2026 and Beyond
2026 is set to be a landmark year for the Pokémon TCG. From the dizzying heights of Delta Reign and Ascended Heroes, to the deep darkness of Pitch Black, to the enduring excitement of the 30th anniversary celebration set. There's been a lot going on in the Pokémon TCG this year.
2027 also promises several exciting shake ups. The year is scheduled to witness the release of the next batch of Pokémon games, Winds and Waves, which means that we'll get a whole new selection of Pokémon printed on cards for the first time.
